With an export growth from a mere USD 1.156 billion in 2001 to 5.741 billion in 2015, the Cambodian garment industry is the biggest export industry and highly important for driving the country’s development. To boost this growth in a sustainable manner, apparel factories have to be equipped with the right tools to gain access to the EU market and increase their long-term business success.
Within the project, 24 manufacturers have received workshops on marketing, organizing and participating in a trade fair, building a global strategy, and sustainability. Further training has been provided to representatives of the Garment Manufacturer Association of Cambodia (GMAC) to consult their members in the future.
The selected manufacturers have received a free booth at the Apparel Sourcing Paris (ASP) trade fair in Paris. Through exclusive stand locations, fashion shows, panel discussions, business to business meetings and the close cooperation with the German association “Dialog Textil-Bekleidung”, the manufacturers have got in touch with European buyers and gained access to the European market.
