07 Dec “Empowering Rural Women in GHANA”
suPPPort ltd. is pleased to reveal the collecting fund for Geolicrafts of a project in Ghana that introduced fair-trade standards and a training centre for underprivileged rural women, as well as promoted the export of handicraft products to enhance income opportunities.
For the project, suPPPort arranged € 200K GRANT to focus on creating jobs and ensuring sustainability. Through this initiative, Geolicrafts established Fair-Trade Standards, launched a Training Shed for underprivileged rural women, and collaborated with Awinsonya Group to train farmers in sustainable agricultural practices as well as manage the storage house.
The primary outcome of this initiative was to empower women by providing weaving skills to 286 individuals, where 264 were women, offering advanced training in handicraft design to 50, and engaging 238 individuals as freelance artisans. This was not just about short-term impact but about long-term success. Geolicrafts is committed to maintaining fair-trade practices, expanding market reach, and ensuring the sustainability of the Training Centre.
