We are proud that one of our partners, Ella Pad, was mentioned as an example for circularity in a well describing article of the fashion industry in Bangladesh by the German FOCUS Online.

“Mamunur Rahman from Bangladesh studied at the Institute for Development Studies at the University of Sussex. Back in his home country he applied his knowledge to help factory workers and school girls. He founded “Ella Pad” where workers make cheap sanitary towels from textile leftovers. “Ella Pad” thus creates jobs for women, but at the same time it is about something else, as the founder explains on his website: In Bangladesh’s textile industry, it is mainly women who work, and most of them under terrible conditions.
Many women have no access to clean toilets or hygiene products during their menstruation, Rahman observed. This often leads to girls and women not going to school or work when they have their period. Mamunur Rahman wants to change this with his affordable sanitary towels. In addition, “Ella Pad” is democratically organised according to its own statements, and the women workers have a say in the design of the working conditions.” -FOCUS Online
